A Nebraska quarterback commit continues to perform at a high level on the football field. Trae Taylor was named one of the top performers from the Elite 11 regionals (subscription required) this past weekend.

The four-star quarterback heads into 2026 after a strong 2025 season at Carmel Catholic (IL). In 11 games, Taylor threw 3,571 yards, 38 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also ran 77 times for 633 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Taylor is transferring to Millard South (NE) this offseason and will join a team that went 12-1 this past season and won back-to-back Class A State championships. He is expected to take over as the starting quarterback, replacing Jett Thomalla, who signed with Alabama.

This past weekend's event focused on five major categories: downfield arm strength, ball placement, mechanics/arm action, and mobility/footwork. Rivals' Charles Power (subscription required) ranked Taylor as the No. 2 player of the weekend and said that the arm strength on display was impressive.

"On an extremely windy day, Taylor’s passes consistently cut through the wind while most others saw their throws blown off course. He has a whippy, tight throwing motion and impressed with the ability to drive his throws on a line."

Power also highlighted Taylor's lower-body flexibility and improved movement skills as standouts at the regional performance. This is obviously positive news for the quarterback as he heads into his senior season.

The increased attention has attracted new suitors vying for the four-star prospect. Ohio State recently expressed interest in Taylor, who has remained firm in his commitment to Nebraska.

The only quarterback who ranked higher than Taylor after the weekend was Kentucky commit Jake Nawrot. Taylor now heads to Los Angeles for the Elite 11 finals this weekend.

Elite 11 Finals alumni include Dylan Raiola, Matthew Stafford, Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young. The event is set to begin on May 29.
