With Iowa basketball making its game-winning run in the final minutes, Nebraska needed a stop to keep hope of a comeback alive.

Instead, the No. 4-seed Cornhuskers made arguably the biggest gaffe of the 2026 NCAA Tournament, deploying only four players onto the court for defense after a timeout.

Hawkeyes forward Alvaro Folgueiras, who is quickly becoming a March Madness legend, made the most of his team's advantage by sprinting down the floor and made a basket-plus-free throw. The score gave Iowa a 74-68 lead with 56 seconds remaining and led to a 77-71 upset victory.
