A former Nebraska basketball player had an NBA pre-draft workout earlier this week. Sam Hoiberg worked out for the Indiana Pacers on Thursday.

Hoiberg started 35 games this past season for the Huskers. He had 9.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

Sam's father, Fred Hoiberg, was selected by Indiana in the second round of the 1995 NBA Draft. He played for the Pacers for the first four seasons of his NBA career.

After the workout, Hoiberg spoke to the media about his workout and the connection the Pacers have to his family.

It's pretty cool. To see his name on the Pacers alumni wall. I didn't know it was on there... having played for him in college and having the success we had and growing as a player. I never expected to be doing NBA workouts... but it's pretty cool to do it with my dad's former team.

The interesting aspect of this workout is that the Pacers currently have no draft picks. Indiana lost the No. 5 overall pick in a trade with the LA Clippers for center Ivica Zubac and does not have a second-round selection.

The 2026 NBA Draft will occur June 23-24 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
