Nebraska football received some encouraging news on the injury front earlier this week. Coach Matt Rhule indicated that wide receiver Janiran Bonner, safety Rex Guthrie, offensive lineman Gunnar Gottula and tight end Carter Nelson will all be full go for camp. This was reported by the Omaha World-Herald’s Evan Bland.

Bonner was injured in the season opener last year against the Cincinnati Bearcats. He suffered a torn ACL and missed the rest of the season. In the meantime, Rex Guthrie had offseason surgery for an injury he suffered in the Las Vegas Bowl last December.

It was also a difficult stretch for Gottula. He suffered an injury in November against UCLA. Nelson had shoulder surgery in January to clean up bone spurs as well as another shoulder issue.

All four Huskers will be important for the team in various ways heading into 2026. A clean bill of health to start camp is certainly a positive development for a team that needs all hands on deck this season.

Nebraska opens the 2026 season with a home game. The Huskers will host Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11:00 a.m. on FS1.

Plenty of positive health updates from Nebraska's Matt Rhule. WR Janiran Bonner, safety Rex Guthrie, OL Gunnar Gottula and TE Carter Nelson all full go for camp.
