The No. 18 Huskers softball team (33-11, 12-4) faced off against Indiana (29-13, 8-8) for their second of a two-game conference series on Saturday afternoon. Nebraska bounced back from its game-one loss to the Hoosiers, producing a swift 12-4 five-inning victory in game two in front of a program record 2,699 fans in attendance.
The Huskers got on the board in the second inning, going up 4-0 before Indiana responded with a solo home run in the third. Nebraska erupted right after, scoring seven runs to go up 11-1 to put the game away.
The Hoosiers add three runs in the fourth, but the Huskers ended the game in the fifth by scoring one more run for a 12-4 final. Nebraska outhit Indiana 13-7, driving in 10 RBIs and no home runs.
Samantha Bland hit 2-for-3 with four RBIs to lead Nebraska on the day. Hannah Camenzind drove in a two-run RBI double, while Kacie Hoffmann finished 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Ava Kuszak also hit 2-for-3 in the win for one RBI. Lauren Camenzind finished 1-for-3 for one RBI and Jordyn Bahl hit 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Bahl also pitched the final inning, striking out two and allowing two hits. Kylee Magee (6-3) grabbed the win in the circle after firing a season-high five strikeouts and allowing four runs across 4.0 innings.
The Huskers travel west up to Washington for a three-game series with the Huskies starting on Friday night. Game one is set for 8:00 p.m. (CT) on FS1.
