There's a new high man on former Washington Huskies star wide receiver Denzel Boston ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.
While the 6-foot-4, 210-pound product of Emerald Ridge High School in Washington, who compiled 132 catches for 1,781 yards and 20 touchdowns over his four years on Montlake, has typically been billed as the WR4, behind a mainly consensus top three of Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, Ohio State's Carnell Tate, and USC's Mekhi Lemon, NBC Sports' Chris Simms ranked Boston ahead of the trio, as his WR1.
While Boston has mainly been projected as a back-end of the first round selection, he has grown very popular in scouting circles throughout the draft process as questions have swirled about Tyson's injury history, which may push him down some boards. With about a month to go before the draft, he could continue to see his stock rise.
"There's just so much to like about the guy in general," he said on Chris Simms Unbuttoned. "All the contested catches and all that, you're going to feel comfortable with. He's phenomenal at adjusting his body, contorting his body...he's got great hands to go up and pluck the ball out of the air. The other thing is he's got incredible route running skills, and I think you can build around that."
"His ability to cut and make breaks and accelerate out of the breaks is really special for someone who's 6-foot-4 and 212 pounds. He's got great feet that way, and then he understands the nuances of route running, too. He knows how to lean people, he knows how to attack leverage and do that, and that's really what's special. His top speed is gonna be maybe the only question about him, but there's enough there. He's pretty good after the catch, he's amazing, and this is where his hands come in, at catching the ball and turning up the field all in one swoop."
Boston most recently took a top 30 visit with the San Francisco 49ers, who hold the No. 27 pick in April's draft, as he continues to most commonly land with the Cleveland Browns (No. 24), Buffalo Bills (No. 26), and New England Patriots (No. 31) in mock drafts.
