The first round of the 2026 NBA draft is set to begin on Tuesday, with 30 players expected to hear their names called at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
BYU forward AJ Dybantsa is the front-runner to be the No. 1 pick by the Washington Wizards, while Kansas guard Darryn Peterson is expected to go second to the Utah Jazz. Duke forward Cameron Boozer and North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson are projected to be selected next.
While Dybantsa, Peterson, Boozer and Wilson are expected to be the first four players off the board, the first round could be shaken up when the LA Clippers and the Brooklyn Nets are on the clock with the next two picks, with both teams being linked to several prospects.
The draft order was altered a bit late Monday, after the Milwaukee Bucksreportedly agreed to trade two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat for a package of players and picks, including the 13th overall pick on Tuesday.
The trade discussions and rumors will continue to swirl before the Wizards are officially on the clock. Some teams have been linked to wanting to trade out of the first round, while others have been seeking to move up and join the festivities.
The 2026 NBA draft will feature a two-night format for the second consecutive year, with the first round scheduled for Tuesday and the second round for Wednesday.
