Not the impressive win we were hoping for. My big preseason concern was the OL and the opener didn’t ease those concerns. I had hoped (expected?) to be done with the game at halftime. It never felt like they didn’t have control but it felt like shaky control.

I am going to keep my eye on NAU this year out of curiosity. Was it because it was ASU or is this a team that will play well all year?

Next week presents a challenge. Huge upgrade in opponent…on the road, eastern time zone…crazy loud environment. Gotta fix things fast.

All is not lost

Listening to coach Dillingham on the above video, the Lumberjacks gave the Sun Devils some exotic looks on defense, things they never see in practice, so it should be a good learning experience.

I so enjoy how he is excited and enthused about the game. He is very detail oriented, which is a good thing.

That last TD by Levitt, dropping it into the bucket in the end zone, was a really good pass. I mostly watch just NFL games, and it is surprising how many times that type of throw is overthrown, or off target, etc. Not an easy throw with a guy barreling in at you either.

It was a great pass and catch.

Unfortunately, Leavitt threw one pass up for grabs in the game and it was intercepted.

They did come in as a ranked FCS team. And an unranked FCS team almost knocked off Kansas State.

I saw that. I was thinking, what if the Cards can get Leavitt to replace Kyler. Then I saw that INT, and i was like, there's Kyler!

Oline looked bad
They have to firm up that pass protection for sure. Sometimes the run blocking was OK. One of the RB TDs they other team had a guy in the back field and the RB did an awesome spin move to avoid the tackle. Against a team with better players, that's a tackle for loss.

I think Leavitt would be a good get at quarterback for an NFL team. He looks to pass first, but has the ability to scramble.

Yeah, he misread the coverage on the play, with a defender up top he didn't see.
