Nashville SC has extended the contract of forward Sam Surridge through the 2027-28 season with an option for 2028-29.
The club announced the extension on Feb. 21, the day of Nashville's 2026 MLS season opener against the New England Revolution at Geodis Park.
Surridge was an All-Star and MVP finalist last season, scoring 24 goals in 37 league matches to finish third in the Golden Boot race and help Nashville reach the playoffs.
NSC did not disclose financial terms of the deal. Surridge, one of the team's three designated players, earned nearly $3.2 million in 2025, the second-to-last year of his original contract.
“Ever since l arrived in Nashville, the love and support from the fans and the club have made it feel like home, and I am delighted to extend my contract,” Surridge said in a club release. “From my debut against Club América to winning the U.S. Open Cup last season, these memories motivate me to achieve even more and create additional history with the team. We have a special group that can achieve great things this season and in the future, and I am proud and excited to be part of the club moving forward.”

Surridge has 51 goals and 10 assists in 87 matches for Nashville since signing from Premier League club Nottingham Forest in July 2023 for a transfer fee of over $6 million. He set a club record with 31 goals last season, including the game-winning penalty in the U.S. Open Cup final win over Austin FC on Oct. 1 that brought Nashville its first trophy.
Born and raised in England, Surridge played for eight clubs during his early professional career, including stints in the Premier League with Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest.
Several English clubs were reported to have interest in Surridge during the most recent transfer window, which ended on Feb. 2. West Ham, Wolverhampton Wanders and Ipswich Town were linked to the striker. Instead, Surridge will remain in Nashville.
Nashville signed several key players to extensions during the offseason, including midfielder Eddi Tagseth, right back Andy Najar and central defender Jeisson Palacios, and also extended the contract of coach B.J. Callaghan through 2028-29.
"Sam has been a key contributor to our club’s success, and pledging his future to the club demonstrates how important a figure he is to Nashville SC," general manager Mike Jacobs said in a release. "We are excited for Sam to continue to pursue club and individual honors here with us."
