NASCAR lineup set by qualifying results for Sunday's Brickyard 400 race at Indy

Carson Hocevar and Daniel Suarez swept the front row Saturday for Spire Motorsports and will start 1-2 in Sunday's Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Hocevar averaged 186.598 mph, a tick better than Suarez's 186.382 around the 2.5-mile layout. Both are in Chevrolets.

This is NASCAR's third year back on the traditional and famous Indy layout after a three-year run (2021-23) on the Speedway's road course. Indy has been a regular stop for NASCAR since the historic stock-car debut there in 1994.

Only three drivers in Sunday's field have won on the Brickyard oval: Brad Keselowski in 2018, Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace the past two years. None of those three are in our current Top 10 driver rankings, as noted here in this week's rundown.

This will be Race 22 of the Cup Series' 26-race regular season. The jockeying is well under way to secure a spot in the top 16 of the points standings, which secures a spot in the 10-race Chase for the 2026 championship. Currently, 69 points separate the 14th and 18th positions in the standings.

The Cup Series gets a rare off-week after Sunday's race before resuming Aug. 9 with a four-race run that will include Iowa, Richmond, New Hampshire and Daytona to end the regular season.
