The rich get richer.
Ryan Blaney, fresh off a win last week at Atlanta last weekend, gets to start first Sunday night in the Window World 450 at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina.
And he didn't even have to mash the gas.
With Saturday's qualifying rained out, NASCAR turned to its fallback system and set the Sunday lineup using what it calls "metrics," which are weighed by last week's finish (70%) and season-long points (30%). Blaney sits third in points, and going along with last week's win, he's King of the Metrics! For this week, anyway.
He'll be joined on the front row by Ty Gibbs. Current points leader Denny Hamlin starts seventh while second-place Tyler Reddick starts fifth.
TV coverage begins at 7 p.m. on TNT.
