WNBA rookie Georgia Amoore suffered an unfortunate ACL injury that ruled her out of the entire 2025 season. On Friday, the Washington Mystics played their first game og the season against the Atlanta Dream without the rookie guard. It was reported before their game that Amoore underwent a successful surgery to repair her injury.
Even without their No. 6 pick of the 2025 draft, the Mystics outlasted the Dream and secured a 94-90 victory. Her fellow rookies, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, had impressive performances to start their careers.
Citron had 19 points on 85.7% shooting from the field. Iriafen, meanwhile, had 14 points and four rebounds against the Dream.

Because of her surgery, Amoore couldn't be with the team. However, the rookie guard was in full support of the team and posted an update on her Instagram, showing how she's cheering for Washington.
"letssss goooooooo," the rookie posted.
The team did not forget about their injured player. During their first game of the year, they stuck a cut-out picture of Amoore on the bench.
The rookie guard spent five years in college, four with Virginia Tech and her senior year at Kentucky. Although she's 5-foot-6, that hasn't hindered her from making a significant difference offensively.
Throughout her entire college career, Amoore was a standout scorer, almost averaging 20 points in her final two years. During her first four years, she averaged 14.7 points and 5.2 assists on 36.1% shooting from deep. In her final year, the 24-year-old guard put up 19.6 points and 6.9 assists.
Amoore was a decorated college star, winning multiple awards during her stint. She was the ACC tournament MVP in 2023, a two-time First-team All-ACC and First-team All-ACC in 2025. Those are just a few of what she achieved at the collegiate level.
