The Los Angeles Rams shocked the world earlier this week when they acquired superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns for edge rusher Jared Verse and a first-round pick. The trade instantly transformed the Rams from being a top contender to the Super Bowl favorite next season.
The Washington Commanders weren't slated to face Garrett in 2026. With his trade to the Rams, Washington will face Garrett next season. Los Angeles comes to Northwest Stadium for a Week 9 matchup, meaning Garrett will face off against star left tackle Laremy Tunsil.
While most NFC teams were nervous about facing off against the Rams with Garrett, the Commanders feel pretty good about their chances. According to Next Gen Stats, Tunsil has allowed only one pressure to Garrett in their numerous meetings since 2018.
In the latest edition of "Chasing 10 with Randy Moss," Garrett and Texans star edge rusher Will Anderson were guests. They asked Garrett which player was the first person to give him problems in his NFL career. He answered former Packers All-Pro left tackle David Bhaktiari.
Then, Garrett mentioned Tunsil.
"Last time I felt like I was frustrated with somebody was probably Laremy," Garrett said. "I'm excited about that matchup. I've got a ton of respect for him."
There's no bad blood here. Just two great players who respect one another. While the Rams will likely be big favorites in Week 9, that Garrett/Tunsil matchup should be plenty of fun.
