Blake has great football smarts and a tremendous field of vision when looking for receivers. He's used to working with less than stellar WR's and is able to make do with whatever is given him in that department. He doesn't make stupid mistakes and should give the Cardinals at least two years with a decent QB.

The Cardinals have two speed burners (Gilmore and Kasper who can spread the defense because of their long ball threat) and two good over the middle receivers (McAddley and Poole) for the short range pick-ups plus a top-notch TE (Freddie Jones) to go to for short yardage or as a relief valve. Add to this the fact that Emmitt and Shipp are both great receivers and run excellent screen pass routes and you suddenly have a very good passing game. If Frank Sanders decides to resign, you now have one of the best go to guys in third and long situations.

As to the running game, Emmitt is a finesse runner with a smooth style and makes it look like he's exerting no effort at all when he runs. He fools you into trying to tackle him where he was instead of where he is thanks to his ability to juke. There's been many a jock-strap left laying on the field from guys trying to tackle Emmitt straight on (a goodly supply of them belonged to the Cardinals). Marcel Shipp on the other hand is a straight ahead power runner who can bull his way through the line, knock over his opponents or drag them along for an extra 5 or 10 yards while they try to tackle him. These two RB's will complement each other and will give the opposing teams fits because of their different running styles.

IMO this is one of the best offenses the Cardinals have fielded since the Neil Lomax, Roy Green, Stump Mitchell era. Especially considering the way the OL is setting up and the depth Graves has managed to add. <p>As I have said---this is my opinion and I am anxiously awaiting the coming season.

Well I do think this could be the best offence I have seen the cardinals with...

"On Paper" they look pretty solid, other than WR...

- you forget McaAddley is a burner as well, I really feel he will be a solid #2 this season... But we will HAVE to get a #1 to open it up for the rest of the WR's...

I'm hoping to see the Cardinals execute a screen pass effectively myself!
I still believe we need a good defense to win..... and that is something we don't have.....YET !
but I am hopeful!

Did anyone see highlights of Cardinal workouts on FoxSportsNet? Not that it means much, but Blake looked about a half-foot shorter than McCown.

NEGATIVITY ALERT - IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ SOMETHING NEGATIVE, PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS POST.

i couldn't disagree with your assessments more.

first, blake's field vision is adequate. he's never been known to have great field vision. he's always been one to go for the homerun (which he is most effective at). he's short and has a tendency to get passes knocked down. all that said, he's a tremendous upgrade from plummer but miles away from lomax.

our wrs - wow do i think you're opinion is way off. this is my opinion: mccaddley is a burner who dislikes going over the middle. go back and watch tape of him last year. he was most effective working the sidelines. he's still learning to be a football player. i think, given time, he will develop into a fine #2 receiver. poole would not make any other team in the league. that's why he was teaching when we called upon him midway through last season. gilmore and kasper may have speed, but they are not starting quality wrs. frank was juiced as of last season and still it took injuries to all of our wrs for gilmore to see the field. placing hope in him and kasper (who was released by two previous teams last year) seems like grasping at straws. i will concede that our staff seems to do well developing wrs, but sully's gonna have his hands more than full enough with running the offense. i hope tolbert can pick up where sully left off b/c this group of wrs, if left as-is, ain't stretchin' no field. also, you forgot about a man that i hope blake never forgets about . . . freddy jones. if the cards are smart, this is the year they start using freddy to stretch the middle of the field. all i want to see him doing is flattening a defensive player on run downs and flying down the seam on passing plays. he's the best pass receiver currently on the roster.

rbs - first of all, emmitt has always been a slasher who's relied on his field vision. he has a minute amount of wiggle and power which he combines with his field vision to break off substantial runs. please no one confuse him with barry sanders or even clinton portis. he does not make people miss because of his "jukes" unless they were wearing cardinal red. in addition, the man is literally on his last legs. if he exceeds 1,000 yards this year it will be just barely. shipp is as you described him, a good, attack the hole type of runner. he's the best thing we have on our squad. nice that he'll be sitting behind yoda (and i'm not talking the yoda that did all those flips in the more recent star wars, i'm talking original old school-walking with a cane yoda). the hodgins move was terrific and will help. will be nice to see a fb actually clearing a path.

the o-line, with the recent acquisitions of depth, should be ready to rock 'n roll this year (health depending - kendall and clement). they are the true strength of the offense. hopefully they won't be facing 8 man fronts all day long.

so in my opinion, i do NOT think this is the greatest offense since lomax, green, smith, mitchell, ferrell, awalt, etc . . . in fact, i think, with no improvement at wr, this may be another wholely pedestrian group. now, given that, i think the mere addition of a legit HEALTHY #1 wr would change things around remarkably. if mushin or marcus are healthy and ready to go, we'd have a pretty strong offense indeed. the lack of that true wr is just too much to overcome right now. oh how i long for the days of david boston . . .

NEGATIVITY ALERT - NEGATIVITY HAS ENDED, YOU MAY READ THE REST OF THIS POST IN RELATIVE PEACE AND HARMONY.

happy-happy-joy-joy, everything the cardinals do is great, we're going 17-0 (in the immortal words of 11), i love rod graves like he was my grandpa.

Oh, man...if I had a PIECE OF PAPER with a 'Washington' on it for each time I've seen/said that. I do believe that was our mantra last year, too. Maybe...3-13 it is. But, my official prediction will remain 10-6. I like 10 and 6...until week 8, when I will revise my prediction, just like everyone else.

I think our offensive will be much improved from last year. We will add a WR or 2 and the O-line will be solid. Less mistakes better run control. I like our chances.

Defensively we will be better. With a new coach in SF and the Rams getting older and more vonerable I think we could have a chance to compete in this division. We are also deeper than last year . Especially on the O-line. THe big if is DEfensive line and end. Willwe get it done there. If not pressure on our corners will be to much for both Barret and Starks. I'm not buying my Supoer Bowl tickets yet but I tryuly believe in HGraves and cant wait to see the product on the practice fields in Flag come July!
