I expect most people here to hate this, but I'll offer it anyway. Almost every muso I know has been geeking out over this group's covers of dance music the past two years. They have some HEAVY HITTING fans ... Quincy Jones, David Foster, Sheila E, Greg Howe, most every studio musician on the planet. Their musicianship and arranging skill on these types of songs is like ear candy for those who do this stuff at the highest level.
I know, none of that has anything to do with what moves the masses. I'm certain the moment a 13-year-old girl hears all those jazz chords they will be bored to tears. Nonetheless, when you hear musicians complaining about the lack of playing in music these days, this is what they have in mind. For better or worse.
