GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WFRV) — Although it’s still early in the minor league baseball season, right now, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers find themselves near the top of the Midwest League West standings.

And, you can chalk it up to two things: consistent hitting and contributions up and down the lineup — with the Milwaukee Brewers No. 6 prospect Andrew Fischer leading the charge.

Fischer recently earned the Midwest League’s Player of the Week award last week after a standout performance in Wisconsin’s series against Peoria: hitting .391 in the series with nine hits, three home runs, and seven RBI’s.

“It’s pretty cool, especially in a league full of talent,” Fischer said. “But it’s a long season. Each day is a new day, and you just try to turn the page and keep going.”

Fischer becomes the second Timber Rattler to earn the weekly honor this season, joining Braylen Payne (Brewers No. 12 prospect), who won the award in late April.

Ten of the Brewers’ top 30 prospects are currently on the T-Rats roster, which is almost unheard of at this level.

Outfielder/Infielder Josh Adamczewski (Brewers No. 10 prospect) has emerged as one of the team’s biggest surprises, ranking second on the team in both batting average and home runs.

First baseman Eric Bitonti (Brewers No. 24 prospect) has also been a consistent contributor, sitting among the team’s leaders in hits, home runs, and RBIs.

“One through nine, it’s tough on opposing teams,” Bitonti said. “It’s not just one guy, anybody can have a big night.”
“We’ve got a very special group,” Adamczewski said. “The clubhouse vibes are unreal. It’s fun coming to the park every day.”

Adamczewski, who recently cracked the Brewers’ top 10 prospect list, says that although it’s exciting to be recognized for his success on the baseball field, it’s something he tries to tune out.

“It doesn’t really mean anything in the grand scheme of things,” Adamczewski said. “You just have to keep tunnel vision and do what you know you can do every day.”

Manager Nick Stanley says the T-Rats are all about building winning habits every day, and keeping their players focused on daily improvement rather than rankings.

“The standard is extremely high,” Stanley said. “Our job is to hold the guys to that standard. These guys are bought in, they play hard, and they see what it takes to get to Milwaukee.”
