It's the biggest question of the offseason in Houston: Who will start on the Houston Texans offensive line in 2026?
The Texans' starting five in the trenches is even a bigger deal than other major headlines for the team, and there's no shortage of headlines.
Houston signed several new contracts with big names like edge rusher Will Anderson Jr., linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair and edge rusher Danielle Hunter, but is yet to extend C.J. Stroud's contract at quarterback.
The Texans are even returning Tank Dell at receiver after he injured his ACL, MCL and LCL with some meniscus damage as well. Even that pales in comparison to the Texans' offensive line problem heading into training camp.
Houston Texans on SI writer Jared Koch discussed the offensive line as we move through OTA season. Here's what Koch had to say about the competition in the trenches.
"Aireontae Ersery and Ed Ingram feel pretty locked into their respective spots at left tackle and right guard. The Texans have invested heavily into each, and haven't had any indication that they won't be starting in the same spots as they did last season.
Outside of those two, though, anything is possible. The Texans rolled out multiple combinations upfront with their first unit throughout all three days, showing that they're far from locked in on how this unit will eventually pan out.
At left guard, Wyatt Teller or Keylan Rutledge could get the nod. At center, Rutledge or Jake Andrews are fighting for that starting position. Even right tackle has some new budding questions surrounding whether or not Braden Smith will take the reins there, or if Trent Brown will reclaim his starting role from last year."

To be clear, average offensive line play probably gets Houston into contention in the upcoming season. The line was not bad last year, but it wasn't good. In time, its deficiencies eroded the team's chances for a title when it had to go up against the New England Patriots' vaunted defense.
Ersery and Ingram provide the beginnings of a good floor, but the Texans will need to find three consistent options at the other three offensive line spots. Most importantly, they will need to find a good right tackle option to replace Tytus Howard, who the team traded to the Cleveland Browns this offseason.
The offensive line is the question of the offseason for the Texans. They will hope to answer it by Week 1 of the season.
