PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers were able to earn a much-needed 106-102 win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. It isn't a win that will be glorified and talked about, just because of how bad the Jazz have been in the 2025-26 season, but it's an important win for Philadelphia.
The Sixers probably wouldn't have won this game without the services of Jabari Walker. The former two-way player now on a standard deal hopped off the bench and poured in 22 points and 10 rebounds in a win the Sixers desperately needed. He shot 4-for-7 from deep and did everything his coaches have been asking of him all season.
"He was great," coach Nick Nurse said. "I mean, obviously, we've been trying to get him to play like that, right? I said this a long time ago, like, he's a really good shooter. You just have to get used to the NBA feel and having enough to pull the trigger on them and noticeably better in his last few games that he's just running the floor, comes to him and he's open, and he just—not much hesitation on him, right?
And he's always been good on the glass. So, it's nice that he could make some really good defensive rebounds for us. That's a good plus for us."
Walker had 20 points and six rebounds in the blowout loss to the San Antonio Spurs just 24 hours earlier. All of those points came in garbage time as the game was already decided by that point, but Walker was able to build off that and give the Sixers a big performance on a night they really needed a win when considering the standings.
"He’s been fantastic," added Quentin Grimes. "Even last night, when the game was just so far out of reach, he came in at the right mindset. Attacking and shooting open shots. So I mean, if he keeps playing like that is gonna be big time for us, for sure."
The biggest thing the Sixers will continue to ask of Walker is to shoot open 3-pointers. He is certainly capable of knocking them down and he will need to be able to be consistent with that shot on a regular basis. One thing's for sure, his teammates are going to continue to push him to take those shots.
"He played really good," Tyrese Maxey stated. "Let me see how may 3s he shot…He shot seven 3s. Wow, that's a lot. OK, that was great. Shot seven. Made four. Played hard on defense. He did a really good job."
The Sixers will now hit the road and take on the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday as they hope to get a little healthier.
