The Byron Nelson will look a little different in the coming days with multiple PGA Tour golfers withdrawing from the event at TPC Craig Ranch. The event is already a bit thinner than normal with stars like Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas not playing the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
Heading into the event, Scottie Scheffler, a Dallas, Texas, native, is a massive favorite to win the trophy at +260, per FanDuel. Jordan Spieth, another Dallas local, is next in line at +1800 followed by Stephan Jaeger at +2200.
Fans expecting to see Gary Woodland and Will Zalatoris will be disappointed as both golfers withdrew from the Byron Nelson before the tournament started. Less than 24 hours before the tournament started, the PGA Tour announced both golfers had withdrawn.
Woodland is dealing with a back injury that has prevented him from playing golf for the better part of two weeks.

"Gary Woodland’s working through a sore back the last two weeks. WD from @cjbyronnelson today," ESPN's Garrett Johnston detailed on X on Wednesday. "His caddie Brennan Little tells me Gary hasn’t hit a ball in 10 days.
"Little says he is uncertain on whether Gary will be healthy enough to caddie for his looper at the Senior PGA in 3 weeks."
The PGA Tour announced that Cameron Champ will replace Woodland in the Byron Nelson field. Additionally, the two locals have been paired together to open the tournament as Spieth, Scheffler and Si Woo Kim are in a star-studded group.
“Playing with Jordan here will be really fun,” Scheffler said on Wednesday, per PGA Tour. “Jordan is obviously a huge part of the community here, and with the success he's had on the course and the effect he's had off the course here in the community, the community here obviously loves him.”
