Michigan State football will not be shutout of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Spartans offensive lineman Luke Newman was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday. Newman was selected with the No. 195 overall pick in the sixth round of the draft.

Newman started his career at Holy Cross before transferring to Michigan State for his final season this past year. He appeared in 52 career games, including all 12 this past season with the Spartans. He started all 12 games at left guard for the Spartans this year.

Newman was the first Spartan selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Former Michigan State defensive lineman Derrick Harmon was picked in the first round on Thursday, but it's debatable among fans whether or not that should count for Michigan State.
