Michigan State hockey forward Isaac Howard has been selected to the 2025 U.S. Men's National Team roster to compete at the IIHF Men's World Championships May 9-25 in Denmark and Sweden.
Howard has had success competing with Team USA in the past, winning gold medals at the 2024 IIHF U20 World Junior Tournament and the 2021 U18 World Junior Championship.
Howard joins Boston University defenseman Cole Hutson and Western Michigan goaltender Hampton Slukynsky as the only three players from the collegiate ranks to make the roster and will be accompanied by MSU coach Adam Nightingale, who will be an assistant coach with the U.S. team.

Notable NHL players on the roster include Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman, Buffalo forward Tage Thompson, San Jose forward Will Smith, Seattle forward Matty Beniers, and Utah forwards Logan Cooley and Clayton Keller.
The U.S. begins training in Germany on May 2 and will open the competition against Denmark on May 9. Team USA is in Group B with Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway and Switzerland.
Howard is coming off a 2024-25 season during which he became the third MSU player to win the Hobey Baker Award and was named First Team All-American and Big Ten Player of the Year. His 1.41 points per game ranked first nationally, and his .70 goals per game were good for third nationally.
Howard recently announced that he would return to MSU for his senior season instead of turning professional and signing with the Tampa Bay Lightning, who selected Howard in the first round of the 2022 NHL draft.
