Several Missouri Southern State University throwers received honors at the NCAA Division II indoor track and field championships over the weekend at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia.
On Saturday, Cedric Pearson earned first-team All-American status with a runner-up finish in the shot put with a personal best 18.68-meter effort.
Jamale Williams also landed on the first-team All-American squad after finishing eighth (17.93 meters) in the event.
Missouri University of Science and Technology's Owen Fraser won the event with a heave of 19.25 meters.
On Friday, all three MSSU female qualifiers earned All-American status in the women’s weight throw.
Dailynn VanDeren was third in the event with a personal best of 20.63 meters and earned first-team All-American honors.
Briar Gillum also earned first-team All-American honors with a seventh-place finish after a personal best throw of 19.19 meters. Kirsten Womack was not far behind; she also landed on the All-American first team with an eighth-place finish (19.06 meters).
Ashland University claimed the top two spots in the event. Leslie Pollock (21.05 meters) claimed first, and Molly Winner was runner-up (20.99 meters).
VanDeren earned her second third-place finish of the meet in the women’s shot put Saturday. She earned a spot as a first-team All-American with a 16.20-meter heave.
Womack earned second-team All-American honors after finishing 12th in the women’s shot put (14.47 meters).
Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Febe Wessels won (16.25 meters), and Azusa Pacific’s Hannah Richardson (16.22 meters) was runner-up.
On Friday, Isaiah Waller earned second-team All-American honors with a 10th-place finish in the men’s weight throw (19.98 meters). Gabe Ford was 14th with a 19.43-meter throw and also earned second-team All-American honors.
Southern long jumper Chase Querry also earned second-team All-American honors with a 10th-place finish (7.14 meters) in the long jump Friday.
In other results, Lucas Trotter missed second-team All-American honors by one spot, finishing 17th in the men’s shot put (16.14 meters). Trace Wooldridge was 18th (16.08 meters). Both Trotter and Wooldridge were All-American honorable mentions.
MSSU’s women finished in 13th (15 points), and the Southern men were 24th (9 points).
