LeBron James doesn't like staying overnight in Memphis.
In what has become the comment heard around the NBA and its fanbase, James, while golfing with friends, pointed to the lack of luxury accommodations in the West Tennessee city. As a solution, he suggested the league move the Grizzlies franchise east, to Nashville.

James' comments sparked a considerable amount of backlash. He's been accused of overlooking the city's rich Black history and failing to consider the positive economic impact the Grizzlies have on the city of Memphis. Meanwhile, Tennessean Opinion and Engagement editor Tacuma Roeback noted the unfortunate timing of his remarks.
The Grizzlies' lease with the city ends in 2029, potentially opening the door for a potential (if long-shot) relocation.
