Is this an option with Cooper? I believe it was his natural position at one time. Maybe Watford moves to guard and DJ at tackle

There was talk about him potentially moving to center down the road when he was drafted.. would certainly open up some options in terms of trying to solidify the line.

this is the first talk of it I have ever seen but it was dropped by jurecki, somers AND urban. Good news though, we need an upgrade at center and we need to see what cooper has before he becomes FA.

If the reports were true about the coaches having to re-program Cooper each week because he was overthinking the playbook and having trouble adjusting to the new week's game plan---a move to center would be absurd. There is more to think about for an NFL center than any position on the offense, save the QB. Plus, we are talking about BA's intricate offense. What this probably signals---they are going to sign a FA guard and they are trying to deflect the attention off of Cooper now before it happens, saying that he is in the discussion at center.

With all these reports I assume it must be true, but unless his difficulties handling the playbook were greatly exaggerated this doesn't make much sense.

I have always thought that center was his best position. I was hoping they would try him at center when he was drafted. If he has all preseason to practice at center he should be ok making the line adjustments. It's going to take time but I think he would make a great center.

I wonder if this has more to do with BASK wanting to make an upgrade at OC or RG in Free Agency. If they don't like Wisniewski and don't want to break the bank for Mack, there isn't much left. But there are plenty of OG's out there that would be an upgrade from Cooper. The article doesn't say he will be the starter at OC. They are probably just going to tell him learn the position and see if he can beat out Shipley and/or a rookie.

his difficulty was not really in assimilating the playbook but more so in correlating how different blocking schemes applied to various plays....he knows the plays...but matching up schemes with different audibles is where he was having issues........ I used to overthink these kinds of things as well back in the day..my guess would be that once he has "got it"...then he's got it..... in some ways center may actually be easier for him as he does not have to calculate what someone else is seeing,...he just sees it himself and makes the line call..........it is also not unheard of for QB's to help with line calls.

I hope you are right because he has the athletic ability to be a great center.

I don't know how much stock you put in the wonderlic test but he scored a 34 which is pretty good.

Never played center even in high school. It's very hard to learn that position as a pro. I don't believe this makes sense.

Just sign Alex Mack. He's opting out of his contract.

BASK are screwing the pooch on this one, this by all indications is a very good Center draft, draft one and be done, if you were thinking about it should have done last year, just seems like shortsighted thinking. I hope it works but, now we are putting our franchise QB and putting him behind an experiment.

we are putting him behind a talented lineman...we can still draft a center......... are you saying you would rather put Palmers fate in the hands of a guy who has never blocked in the NFL?

Isn't that probably the point? Bring in an upgrade at RG and then draft a C. Let Cooper compete with the rookie.

I do think Cooper is a talented Olineman, but if you were thinking about this, and trust me I have thought about it why wasn't he being worked at the Center spot OTAS preseason and groomed into the position, for the last couple yrs JMO

If he doesn't work out at center, what's next? See if he can be our long snapper?

H-back first long snapper next, possibly ILB it takes no instincts to play there either let's just roll him out there see what sticks
