Mountain Ridge boys rout Shalom; East Hardy shuts down Pendleton

FROSTBURG — AJ Lauder caught five for five 3-pointers, and Mountain Ridge blitzed Shalom early to roll to a 70-50 rout on Thursday at the Coal Mine.

Cam Breighner had the hot hand for Mountain Ridge (8-8) early, hitting three first-quarter triples to help the Miners jump out to a 21-6 lead.

Mountain Ridge extended its advantage to 37-14 at the half and took a 53-31 edge into the fourth.

Lauder led Mountain Ridge with 18 points, Breighner added 16 and Levi Clise scored 10.

Shalom's Corban Wenger topped all scorers with 23 points, and Drake WEnger finished with 11.

Mountain Ridge was victorious in the JV game 51-41. Sawyer Elliott paced the Miners' junior varsity squad with 12 points. Jack Myers and Waylon Hubers led Shalom with 10 points each.

Mountain Ridge hosts South Carroll on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

BAKER, W.Va. — Evan and Mason Hamilton combined for eight 3-pointers and 38 points, and the Cougars shut down Pendleton County on Thursday night.

Evan Hamilton drilled four 3-pointers in the opening period to allow East Hardy (11-4) to build a 17-7 advantage. The Cougars took a 25-17 edge into the half before a 23-point explosion in the third allowed them to pull away.

Hamilton led all scorers with 20 points and hit six 3-pointers, and his brother added 18 points and hit two triples and 8 of 10 foul shots. Gideon Good added nine points.

Travis Owens paced Pendleton County (11-4) with eight points.

East Hardy is at Tygarts Valley on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
