Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi delivered an semi-positive update on Bayern Munich attacker Ismael Saibari ahead of Thursday’s World Cup quarterfinals match against France. Saibari continues to be out with a hamstring issue, but it sounds like it was a relatively close call, at least.
“For Saibari, this game is too soon. But I hope he’s not out for the rest of the competition,” Morocco head coach Ouahbi said (per Foot Mercato’s Hanif Ben Berkane, via @iMiaSanMia).
Earlier it was reported that Saibari had missed Morocco’s final training session on Wednesday after already missing the prior ones leading up to Thursday’s match.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a flying start to his World Cup, scoring in each of Morocco’s first three matches. He was forced off the field after just 21 minutes against Canada in the Round of 16.
