Bayern Munich newcomer Ismael Saibari is travelling to Boston with the Morocco national team ahead of its quarterfinal match on Thursday against France. According to reports from @iMiaSanMia, Saibari will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the status of his hamstring injury and availability for the rematch of the 2022 semifinals.
Saibari scored a goal in each of the three group stage matches for Morocco and buried the decisive penalty kick to beat the Netherlands in the Round of 32. He was hurt after just 22 minutes against the co-hosts, Canada on Saturday. His team was able to cruise through to the quarterfinals with a 3-0 win without their top goal scorer.
Saibari joins Bayern after 142 matches and 42 goals for PSV’s senior team since 2020. He also has 34 caps with the senior Morocco team and has brought his national team goals to 12 this summer. He will surely want to add to his cap and goals count before the tournament ends.
