MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – This Thursday night, Oceanside alum Monroe Freeling will try and join the likes of AJ Green, Robert Quinn, and Javon Kinlaw. Former Lowcountry prep standouts drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Monroe is trying to take his mind off the draft this week and was playing golf Monday afternoon. Something he’s trying to do this week to take himself away from the stress and pressure over the past three months of preparing for the draft.

While he only started one full season at left tackle at Georgia, Monroe believes he’s ready for the pro level having gone against first round talent in practice in Athens.

From flying up draft boards with his combine performance to talking with every team in the league, Freeling told News 2 Sports on Monday, this has been the longest year of his life.

The first round of the NFL Draft begins at 8 p.m. on Thursday night.
