Mookie Betts’ one comment shows how ridiculous Shohei Ohtani is for Dodgers originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani is one of those guys that everybody expects to play well every day he's on the field. No matter what he’s doing, he's viewed as a player who has to come through when it matters most.

That's why it's a bit crazy to say, but some have been a little disappointed about how he's swung the bat this season. Still, he has a 150 OPS+, eight home runs, 11 doubles, and is hitting .272 with an .885 OPS.

That's all, while factoring in that the guy is also throwing on the mound and has been rather disgusting, posting a 0.73 ERA in 49.0 innings with 54 strikeouts.

Dodgers fan favorite Mookie Betts recently spoke about the expectations around Ohtani, and really put some things into perspective.

"If he doesn't get a hit or maybe has a couple bad games, it's like, 'Well what's wrong with Shohei?' Well, I mean, he did just go seven innings, two hits, he does have a 0.7 ERA," Betts said, per BR. "You forget all the other ways that he really affects the game."

Ohtani can show up to the yard, get on base one time, and steal second and third, stealing a run for his team. That one run can be the deciding factor of a game. He can also leave the yard at any moment or throw six strong.

We've seen some incredible baseball players throughout the entire existence of this game, but it's getting tough to say that anybody has come close to the Japanese star.
