PELL CITY, Ala. (WIAT) — Fresh off a state title, Moody football is embarking on a new era. Former Alabama player and UAB defensive line coach Kyle Tatum is taking over as the Blue Devils’ head coach.
“For us it was, you know, instilling our core values, preaching our culture, getting started with how we work and how we do things,” Tatum said. “Really just bringing our family together, understanding what protecting the family really means, and building a brotherhood that we can be proud of.”
With the elimination of 7A in Alabama football, the Blue Devils shift from 5A to 4A this season.
“We have to develop toughness, mental toughness and physical toughness,” Tatum said. “The ability to be consistent every day.”
Moody opens the 2026 campaign at home against Briarwood Christian on Aug. 21. Watch the full story above.
