Monshun Sales commits to Indiana, giving the Hoosiers their first-ever five-star recruit. The No. 1 2027 wide receiver chose Indiana over Alabama, Texas, LSU and Ohio State.
"To be the highest-rated recruit is a blessing. At the end of the day, rankings don't mean anything. I'm just ready to work," Sales stated.

Sales is an elite addition for Indiana. He's got a massive catch radius at 6'4" and has been a dominant prospect in high school. His development in their system will be fun to watch.
The Wildcats-to-Indiana University receiver pipeline is on fire. First it was Donaven McCulley, second was Omar Cooper Jr., third was Davion Chandler, and now it is Sales. He had an official visit with the Hoosiers on April 24. He also took official visits to Alabama and Ohio State.
Sales made the IFCA All-State Top 50 on Dec. 7, 2025, alongside his Lawrence North teammates Breck Mallory, Ivayzeon Moore, and Jeb Brown. Sales was also named to the All-MIC Offense. He was selected to play in the United States Navy All-American Bowl on Jan. 10th, 2025, in San Antonio, TX. The game was televised on NBC and Peacock.
Sales was selected as a 2026 Polynesian Bowl All-Star on June 17, 2025. This was during his junior year. He was also on the All Lobby Team on June 23, 2025.
Lawrence North took home the state title in the 4x100m Relay. Sales, Davion Chandler, Jerome Smith, and Damario Moore posted a time of 40.85. This was their 5th state championship in school history. During his sophomore season, Sales recorded 34 receptions for 568 yards and seven touchdowns.

Back in November 2024, Cignetti called Indiana "the emerging superpower in college football." One season later, he coached the Hoosiers to a national title. From the most losses in college football history to a national championship and securing five-star recruits, he has made them a force.
Congrats to Indiana, but even if Texas or LSU or whatever was getting the kid, I would still be doing the same thing: you have to hold onto them. I care less about what team is getting a player out of high school; I care about what team that player is starting on by the time he’s an elite college player. Because of this, I put a lot more value on the portal nowadays.
Indiana was the heavy favorite here. The in-state pull under Cignetti is real. The prediction metrics had the Hoosiers at roughly 84%, with Texas at 5% and Ohio State at 2.5%. As for the Tigers, they made a late push and got him on campus for an official visit in June, but their actual chances of pulling off the upset were pretty slim.
Picking Indiana on the Pat McAfee Show was massive. Cignetti and that staff are cooking. This was the biggest commitment to Indiana sports since Romeo Langford. They developed Omari Cooper Jr. into a first-rounder in two years. The sky is the limit with Sales.

This was a smart decision for Sales, choosing to stay in his home state (in-state) and become a local hero in Bloomington.
Indiana football's offensive future looks incredibly bright with the arrival of the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2027 class and the top-ranked player in Indiana. Sales immediately becomes the centerpiece of Indiana’s 2027 recruiting class and one of the biggest commitments in Big Ten recruiting.
Sales becomes Indiana's first-ever five-star football recruit, according to 247 Sports. His picking the Hoosiers defies history. They have done plenty of that the last few years.
