The Chicago White Sox are having a much better season than anyone could've expected. They're very much in the playoff race, and currently reside in one of the Wild Card spots.

With the August 3 trade deadline less than two months away, what the White Sox decide to do is a very interesting question. It's reasonable for fans to be hyped about a potential addition or two based on how good the team is right now.

However, MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today poured some cold water on fans hoping to see the White Sox acquire talent, as the expectation is that Chicago doesn't actually use its prospects this season to add talent.

White Sox trade deadline update reveals expected prospect-holding plan

"The Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals have been two of the biggest surprises in baseball the first half, but please, they're not about to trade prospects at the deadline to go all-in," Nightengale writes.

Even though the White Sox are sporting an impressive 34-30 record, there is seemingly no indication that they're going to be spending at this year's deadline to acquire talent.

While they might not sell some of their players who could be on the move if the season were a disaster, they are still not likely to act as serious all-in buyers.

This isn't too much of a surprise, and it's actually the right decision from the front office. Going all-in this season could hurt the team in the long-run.

For as good as this year's White Sox have been, it's hard to imagine them going on a World Series run, considering all of the issues on the roster they have at the moment.

They're better off keeping their prospects close to their chest, or if they do make a trade, landing someone who is going to be around for more than just the next year or two.

The White Sox are a legitimate postseason contender, but a World Series is still one level above them at the moment. Keeping hold of their prospects would be the right decision.
