Minor League Recap: Catchers Cooper Ingle and Bennett Thompson stand out

Columbus Clippers 3, St. Paul Saints 6​

Clippers fall to 52-49​

The usual suspects had strong performances in this game. Cooper Ingle went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and a walk.

Angel Genao went 2-for-5 and Kahlil Watson went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a stolen base.

Starting pitcher Trenton Denholm was decent, allowing four runs on seven hits in 6.0 innings with three strikeouts and no walks.

Tanner Burns allowed a pair of runs in his lone inning and Trevor Stephan struck out the side in his solo inning of work.

Akron RubberDucks 4, Altoona Curve 3​

RubberDucks improve to 44-50​

Akron didn’t have much offense in this one, but the RubberDucks didn’t need much because of a great starting pitching effort from Cam Favors.

Favors allowed one run on just one hit (a solo shot) in 6.0 innings of work in his best start of the season. He struck out seven and walked one.

Bennett Thompson provided almost all of the offense, going 3-for-3 at the plate with a walk.

Ryan Cesarini also had a big day, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Alex Mooney walked and was hit by a pitch.

Zach Jacobs struggled out of the bullpen, allowing two runs in 2.0 innings. Cam Walty earned his first save at Double-A with a perfect ninth inning.

Lake County Captains 5, Fort Wayne TinCaps 7​

Captains fall to 52-40​

A five-run third inning helped Lake County jump out to a 5-1 lead in this game, but the pitching couldn’t hold it.

Tommy Hawke went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases before unexpectedly leaving the game. Hopefully he is OK.

Logun Clark went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk while Anthony Martinez and Gerrett Howe both went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Starting pitcher Harrison Bodendorf wasn’t anything special on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits in 4.0 innings, walking three and striking out just one.

Michael Kennedy followed with 3.0 innings of long relief, although he gave up four runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks to take the loss.

Hill City Howlers 10, Delmarva Shorebirds 6​

Hillcats improve to 42-54​

Most of Hill City’s lineup came through in this one.

Leading the charge was Jonathan Martinez, who went 2-fo-3 with a double, two walks and two stolen bases.

Jhorvic Abreaus went 2-for-4 with a double while Victor Izturis went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a hit by pitch.

Gabriel Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a walk and three stolen bases while catcher Reiner Herrera went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base. Jose Pirela went 1-for-3 with a walk and and Riley Nelson wetn 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored.

Starting pitcher Erigaldi Perez was excellent, allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts and no walks in 4.2 innings. The bullpen locked things down until the ninth inning when the normally reliable Javi Torres got blistered for four runs on six hits in one frame.
