It will be a few weeks before Vanderbilt baseball left-hander Miller Green will pitch due to an undisclosed injury, coach Tim Corbin said.
Green is the team's most experienced left-hander. He was shut down from throwing shortly before the start of the season. In 2025, he had a 3.80 ERA in 20 appearances.
There are a few other pitchers who didn't appear during the team's first five games despite being expected to be significant pieces of the staff. Corbin said that Matthew Shorey, a sophomore who had a 5.27 ERA in 14 appearances last year, is "going to pitch here soon," and that Hudson Barton, who missed most of his 2025 freshman season, could return as soon as this weekend.
Left-hander Aiden Stillman, the team's top recruit in the 2025 class ranked No. 46 nationally, missed most of the fall and preseason with an undisclosed injury. He is throwing, Corbin said, but "I don't know when he's going to pitch again."
With Green, Stillman and Shorey having yet to appear, the only left-hander who has seen time for the Commodores (3-2) is Jakob Schulz, who did not allow a run in two appearances.
Vanderbilt defeated Eastern Michigan, 16-2, in a combined no-hitter at Hawkins Field on Feb. 18.
Shorey, Green and Barton are all local players. Shorey attended Father Ryan High School, Green attended Lipscomb Academy and Barton attended Grace Christian Academy.
