Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks are coming off yet another strong campaign.

South Carolina finished with an overall record of 35-4, went 15-1 in SEC play and won the SEC Tournament over the Texas Longhorns.

Unfortunately, their season came to an end on April 6, losing to Paige Bueckers' UConn Huskies in the NCAA Tournament final.

To make matters worse, they lost several key contributors from the 2024-25 season, including Te-Hina PaoPao and Sania Feagin.

It didn't end there, though.

On Friday, sophomore guard MiLaysia Fulwiley, the team's second-leading scorer, transferred to the conference rival LSU Tigers.

Fulwiley took to Instagram to celebrate the decision, posting in an LSU jersey with the caption, "Geaux Tigers ".

Fulwiley was one of the Gamecocks' most reliable players last season. In her second year under Staley, she posted 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in 18.9 minutes per game.

She led South Carolina in steals and won the 2025 SEC Sixth Player of the Year. In 2024, she won the SEC Tournament MVP.

So far, they've brought in Agot Makeer, a five-star recruit from Montverde Academy, and Ayla McDowell, a five-star recruit from Cypress Springs, Texas.

On April 8, Second-Team All-American and five-star transfer Ta'Niya Latson committed to play for South Carolina. Latson was the nation's leading scorer (25.2) last season at Florida State.
