Mikel Brown Jr. and Darius Acuff Jr. are two of the most promising guard prospects in recent years. They have some sort of rivalry between them dating back to their high school days in Florida.

When they went to college, they were part of different conferences, but Brown's Louisville and Acuff's Arkansas still played against each other. Acuff has the advantage, winning two of the three games they played against each other, but that could change now that they are in the NBA.

In many cases, iron sharpens iron. Brown and Acuff are fantastic guards who are both talented enough to be stars for their respective teams, the Brooklyn Nets for Brown and the Sacramento Kings for Acuff.

Before the 2026 NBA Draft, both were ranked in the top two for point guards. This naturally feeds into the rivalry, which seems to have entered Brown's orbit because he is taking the matchup personally when they meet in the NBA.

Since they are both exciting guards, there should be a fun matchup between the two. Whenever the Nets and Kings play against each other, this will be a storyline to follow, which Brown acknowledges to be a big factor.

"Basketball nowadays, that rivalry brings along a lot of fans, and more people want to watch, and it’s competitive. We know we’re going to see each other for the rest of our lives, so buckle up," Brown said to Steve Serby of the New York Post.

As the rest of the league will watch these two guards, they are focused on helping their teams succeed. They are the two most popular guards alongside Keaton Wagler of the Los Angeles Clippers and Kingston Flemings of the Atlanta Hawks.

They are all talented players, which further proves that the 2026 class is rife with elite prospects. Brown recognizes this, which is why he is motivated to beat them whenever the Nets play against their teams.
