Since getting out to a fast start, Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels have cooled off quite a bit. After beginning the season 8-4, the Angels have gone 4-11, lost five of their last six games, and have one of the most dreadful streaks going in baseball.

Angels offense over the last 15 games:

167 strikeouts
19 walks

They've been outscored 77-35 over that stretch.

In their last 15 games, Angels batters have struck out an eye-popping 167 times, compared to just 19 walks. This includes striking out a total of 36 times while being swept by the Minnesota Twins this past weekend.

“Once they leave what’s being told to them and step in the batters’ box, it’s totally up to them,” Manager Ron Washington said. “We can’t hit for them. All we can do is give them the work, get them in the right direction, and they’ve got to take care of the rest. It’s not happening right now. And it’s not just one or two people. This is up and down the lineup.”

Right fielder Mike Trout, designated hitter Jorge Soler, and catcher Logan O'Hoppe are tied for the team lead with 34 punch outs apiece.

“I think that this funk is just easy for people to point fingers at, honestly, the wrong people,” O’Hoppe said. “It’s not J-Wash’s fault that we’re striking out so much. It’s not Laker’s fault. It’s not Nixy’s fault. It’s my fault. I’ve punched out way too much the past week, and I know other guys would say the same thing. It’s no one else but us. I think that’s part of the frustration of it too. The blame is getting put on the wrong people.”

Through Sunday's games, the Angels, as a team, rank dead last in MLB in walks (57) and on-base percentage (.267). They are also striking out an average of 9.74 times per game, second worst to the Colorado Rockies 10.59.
