One of the Baltimore Ravens' biggest offseason additions is expected to improve their pass rush on Sundays. Who are we kidding? Everyone should know by now what a healthy Trey Hendrickson is capable of. Still, he may be making an even bigger impact between practices and meetings. Second-year edge rusher Mike Green has spent training camp soaking up everything he can from the veteran.
Hendrickson is one of the NFL's premier pass rushers. Baltimore signed him to make an impact and replace lost production following the departures of David Ojabo, Kyle Van Noy and Dre'Mont Jones.
Green sees another benefit to the move. He's gaining a blueprint. After a rookie season that teetered between ' encouraging' and 'disappointing', he hopes to author a breakout and build on the 41 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and fumble recovery he produced in 2025.
Green enters Year 2 looking to turn flashes into consistent production. Few players are better equipped to help him make that leap than Hendrickson, whose relentless approach has made him one of the league's most productive edge defenders.
Green told media members recently that "He's done things that I want to accomplish."
That simple statement says plenty about how Green views the relationship. He's not merely asking questions. He's studying someone who has already reached the standard he's chasing.
Hendrickson's arrival addressed an immediate need after Baltimore's offseason losses, but his value extends beyond replacing sacks. The Ravens have assembled one of the NFL's youngest pass-rushing groups, including Green and rookie Zion Young. For a franchise that has long prioritized player development, surrounding young talent with proven veterans is as important as any scheme adjustment.
Learning how to prepare, practice and recover can be just as valuable as learning a new pass-rush move. Green appears to understand that distinction. The Ravens have repeatedly emphasized building chemistry throughout training camp, believing that strong relationships off the field translate into better communication and trust on the field.
Green said he has also enjoyed getting to know rookie Zion Young. That's another indication that Baltimore's young defenders are developing alongside one another while learning from established veterans like Hendrickson.
If everything unfolds as the Ravens envision, Hendrickson won't simply be remembered for the sacks he records in Baltimore. He'll also be remembered for helping shape the next wave of pass rushers who eventually carry the position forward.
