One of the stars on the Spartans' defense has received a notable preseason recognition.
Michigan State linebacker Jordan Hall has been named to the Butkus Award watchlist, the school announced on Thursday. The Butkus Award is presented each year to the nation's top linebacker.
Hall is entering his fourth season with the Spartans, looking to have his best season yet. Hall was voted a team captain as a junior in 2025 and was also an honorable mention All-Big Ten pick last season.
Michigan State has not yet announced team captain for this upcoming season but it would be shocking if Hall wasn't selected again. He's going to lead the Spartans defense again this fall, and hopefully will find himself as a finalist for this award by November.
