Michigan State hockey coach Adam Nightingale (Cheboygan) will get his first look at Team USA’s top candidates for the 2026 world junior championships later this month in Windsor.
Windsor will host the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase at the WFCU Centre from July 26-Aug. 1.
The week-long tournament features teams from the U.S., Canada, Sweden and Finland and includes 10 international games with 47 U.S. players split into two teams: Team Blue and Team White.
The two teams will each play games on July 26 and July 27 before a consolidated Team USA will face Sweden on July 29.
Tickets are $18 (Cdn.) plus fees for non-Canada games and $45 plus fees for Canada games.
The showcase serves as an evaluation for players hoping to earn spots on their respective national teams for the worlds, which will be in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta, from Dec. 26-Jan. 5, 2027.
Nightingale's U.S. team will have a distinct local connection. Six players are from Michigan:
▶ Nick Bogas, D, 6-0, 179, Royal Oak
▶ Henry Brzustewicz, D, 6-2, 203, Washington (Mich.)
▶ Will Horcoff, F, 6-5, 201, Birmingham
▶ Landon Nycz, D, 6-2, 201, Detroit

▶ Brooks Rogowski, F, 6-7, 236, Brighton
Seven players are committed to Michigan State, including locals Reid and Bogas:

The U.S. has won two gold medals in the last three years at the world juniors and medaled in eight of the last 11 championships.
Nine first-round draft picks are among the invitees and 42 of 47 players have already been drafted by NHL teams.
