Michigan basketball has mostly retained its roster in the wake of Dusty May's departure to the Dallas Mavericks, with just one player -- guard LJ Cason -- having yet to declare his intentions. And, until Thursday, it had appeared that much of the coaching staff had remained intact under interim head coach Mike Boynton Jr.
According to the Detroit Free Press, two assistants are on their way out. Per Tony Garcia, the Wolverines are losing Drew Williamson and newly-hired Mody Maor (who had been an international coach) to May's Mavericks, adding to the list that includes Boynton's ascension and Justin Joyner taking over the Oregon State program as holes that the program has to fill.
Williamson was the program's recruiting coordinator as well as an assistant coach under May. He followed May to Ann Arbor after having served as an assistant coach under him at Florida Atlantic. Before that, he was an associate head coach and assistant head coach at Division II Virginia State and the director of basketball operations at Old Dominion.
Maor was hired by May on May 10, and was expected to fill Joyner's shoes. He most recently coached in Japan but also coached in New Zealand.
At this stage, there is no word on Akeem Miskdeen or Kyle Church, though Miskdeen has been out recruiting and Church appeared at a U-M Club of Greater Flint golf outing on the day that May left the program.

Drew Williamson, an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Wolverines the past two seasons, has left U-M and joined the Mavericks' staff as an assistant coach, a source with knowledge of the situation but permitted to speak anonymously told the Free Press. (. . .)
In addition to Williamson, Mody Maor – hired by May to replace Joyner – has also accepted a role with the Mavericks.
