MUNICH, GERMANY - MAY 16: Michael Olise of FC Bayern Munich poses for a photograph as he is presented with the Bundesliga Player of the Season award after the Bundesliga match between FC Bayern München and 1. After Bayern Munich’s 5-1 win over FC Köln on the final Bundesliga match day of the season, the title celebrations commenced even though the German Rekordmeister had officially clinched the title several weeks ago. They were able to lift the Meisterschale and engage in their customary beer showers during the celebrations, during which personal awards were also given.

Without too much surprise, Michael Olise was officially named Bundesliga player of the season for what’s been a sensational campaign for the French winger. In the Bundesliga this season, Olise tallied 15 goals and 21 assists from a total of 32 appearances, having only missed two of Bayern’s 34 league matches, neither of which were through injury – a testament to his fitness levels. Across all competitions, Olise tallied 22 goals and 30 assists from 51 appearances across all competitions, just showing how valuable he was for Bayern in virtually every game he played.

Speaking on the personal honor, Olise was characteristically as humble as ever, giving the rest of the Bayern team all of the credit for his performances in the Bundesliga. “It was a team effort. I wouldn’t be able to win this award without my team. I think quite a few players could’ve won it. I’m obviously happy for the award, but more happy for the [Bundesliga] trophy,” he told Sport1 (via @iMiaSanMia) while he was trying to avoid the beer showers. Of course, both Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof were able to get him while he was speaking to ESPN as it’s nearly impossible to be in and around a Bundesliga title winning Bayern team and not get hit with a beer shower.

Remarkably, Olise getting the Bundesliga player of the year award comes five years after he was given the English Football Championship young player of the year award when he was with Reading, showing just how much his career has been on the right trajectory. Ever since he joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024, he has well and truly exceeded any and all expectations that were on him after making the €60m move.
