Riley Patterson, who had a strong season for the Miami Dolphins filling in for the injured Jason Sanders, re-signed, likely giving the team a kicking competition this offseason.

Patterson made 27 of 29 field-goal attempts (93.1 percent) for the Dolphins, including three of four from 50 or more yards. His longest was from 54 yards.

Patterson also made all but one of his 35 extra-point tries, leading the Dolphins to recently release Sanders.

Patterson would compete with Zane Gonzalez, whose agent said he intends to sign with Miami.

Patterson has appeared in 61 career games in five seasons with Detroit (2021, 2023), Jacksonville (2022), Cleveland (2023-24), the New York Jets (2024), Atlanta (2024) and Miami (2025). He has made 90-of-103 field-goal attempts (87.4 percent).

He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with Minnesota in 2021.
