Kodai Senga notched his first MLB save on Monday night for the Mets, and he wanted the ball as a keepsake.
But right fielder Carson Benge didn’t get the message.
After Benge caught the final out of the Mets’ 8-5 victory over the Atlanta Braves, he tossed the ball to a fan in the right field stands instead of holding it for Senga.
The pitcher and catcher Francisco Alvarez were motioning for Benge to hold onto the ball, but he didn’t see them. When he finally did, he smiled and put his hands on his head as if to say, “My bad.”
“What are you doing?” Gary Cohen said on SNY.
“Come on,” Keith Hernandez added.

Senga closed out the 8-5 win with a hitless ninth inning in place of injured closer Devin Williams.
