With less than 24 hours to go before the MLB trade deadline on Aug. 3, the New York Mets continued their selloff.

The next to leave Queens: veteran reliever Huascar Brázoban, who was seen hugging teammates on the field earlier in the day Sunday during the Mets’ game against the Miami Marlins.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Chicago White Sox will get Brazobán for Double-A pitcher Gabe Davis and Triple-A pitcher Zach Franklin.

Brazobán, 36, is 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA in 45 games out of the Mets’ bullpen this season. The right-hander boasts a 96.8 mph fastball and has been excellent at limiting hard contact. Right-handers are slugging .263 against him this season, left-handers .268.

The White Sox opened up one spot in their bullpen by trading Seranthony Dominguez to the Seattle Mariners in a deal that sent Luis Castillo to Chicago.

With Castillo joining the rotation, Erick Fedde will move to the bullpen in a long relief role. Brazobán fills a different niche, and will be able to help the White Sox improve a bullpen that’s blown 20 saves this season. Only four teams have blown more saves.

Davis was the No. 18 prospect in the White Sox organization, according to MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old right-hander stands 6-foot-9 and possesses a fastball that can reach triple digits.

In eight starts at advanced Class-A Winston-Salem, Davis posted a 2.63 ERA with only seven walks and 33 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. He was then promoted to Double-A Birmingham, where the results have been slower (0-5, 8.31 ERA, 1.85 WHIP) to come around.

Franklin, 27, is a veteran of four minor league seasons since the White Sox drafted him in the 10th round out of Missouri in the 2023 MLB Draft.

With Triple-A Charlotte in 2026, he’s 2-2 with a 4.37 ERA in 33 games. He has struck out 60 and walked 14 across 45.1 innings, limiting opponents to a .220 average.
