The New York Mets fired manager Carlos Mendoza on Friday, the team announced.

The move comes with the team in the midst of a miserable season, in which the Mets sit at just 34-47 — one of the worst records in the National League — despite a massive payroll.

Andy Green will take over as the team’s interim manager, the team announced.
