The New York Mets have made a notable roster move before Thursday night's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Today, the NL East club announced that second baseman Marcus Semien was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.
Semien missed three weeks with a Grade 3 left hip flexor strain.
In a corresponding move, shortstop Zack Short was designated for assignment.
Short made six appearances in the Majors with the Mets. He collected one hit and struck out seven times in 16 trips to the plate.
As a veteran of six MLB seasons, Short has suited up for five clubs, including the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros.
He's more well-known for his strong defense than for his bat. In 270 career games, he is a .169/.270/.286 hitter with 15 home runs and a .556 OPS.

Having Semien back in the lineup is a welcome sight for a Mets club that has the second-worst record in the NL.
The three-time All-Star is a better offensive option than Short, but his .613 OPS is far below his career average of .750.
Semien has three years remaining on the seven-year deal he signed with the Texas Rangers in 2021.
