Messi, Suarez, Rivaldo and more: Robert Lewandowski ends his time at Barcelona joining an elite list


Robert Lewandowski capped off his spell at Barcelona by scoring the team’s only goal in the 3-1 defeat to Valencia at the Mestalla on Saturday.


It was the final game for the Polish international in Blaugrana colours, putting an end to a four-year spell that saw him play a critical role in Barcelona’s resurgence.


Although Lewandowski’s efforts weren’t enough to help Barcelona secure a win in the last match, he will leave the club, joining an elite club that includes Lionel Messi, among others.

Lewandowski joins list of top ten Barcelona scorers​

Thanks to his goal at the Mestalla, Lewandowski has now joined the list of the top ten all-time highest scorers for Barcelona.

His goal against Valencia helped him extend his tally to 120 goals, which makes him level with Josep Escola, a player who used to play for Barça before the Second World War.


The Pole would be disappointed not to have scored two more goals for the season, as it could have propelled him to eighth position, level with Patrick Kluivert and Carles Rexach at 122.

An elite club​

Lewandowski, nevertheless, joins an elite club of top ten Barcelona scorers of all-time, which is headlined by none other than Lionel Messi.

The Argentine sits at the top with 672 goals, a tally almost unreachable for anyone in the modern era.


Cesar Rodriguez claims second place with 225 goals, while Luis Suarez completes the podium with 195 goals. Laszlo Kubala is fourth with 190 goals.


There is a considerable gap afterwards, with fifth-placed Rivaldo scoring 130 goals, just ten more than tenth-placed Lewandowski.


Between Lewandowski and Rivaldo, the list features some prominent footballing legends such as Samuel Eto’o (sixth, 130 goals), Mariano Martin (seventh, 129 goals), as well as the duo of Kluivert and Rexach (122 goals).
