Friday's Summer League action in Las Vegas included a matchup between two of the top picks in the 2026 NBA Draft, and the battle didn't disappoint.
With the Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls both getting their Vegas slates underway, No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer and No. 4 overall pick Caleb Wilson put on a show. Wilson had the bigger game, but Boozer got the satisfaction of leaving the arena with a 97-96 victory.
Wilson was remarkable in his Summer League debut, scoring 35 points in efficient fashion. He went 12-for-21 from the field and 7-for-11 from deep, and for good measure, he also tacked on five rebounds, two steals and three blocks.
He had a chance to send a message to the Grizzlies, who passed on him at No. 3 overall, and he certainly took advantage.
But Memphis is likely feeling just fine about its choice to take Boozer with that selection, as the rookie has been great in his Summer League opportunities so far. That continued against Wilson and the Bulls.
Boozer finished the game with 23 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field and 1-for-1 shooting from long range. He also had six rebounds and four assists. It continued a trend of him posting very efficient games in Summer League ball, which started for the Grizzlies in Salt Lake City.
He also had some help in the win. Every member of Memphis' starting lineup posted double figures, including rising sophomore Cedric Coward, who had a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double to go along with five assists.
On the Chicago side, a few other players finished in double digits aside from Wilson, but the UNC product had easily the best performance of the night out of anyone on the floor for the Bulls (or either team for that matter).
The Grizzlies were able to overcome a poor 3-point shooting night to get the win, as they finished just 3-for-21 from beyond the arc. The Bulls, meanwhile, were a strong 14-for-32 from deep.
The top of the 2026 draft class has been simply phenomenal in Summer League action so far, and it seems like the group may end up producing multiple stars at the NBA level. Boozer and Wilson may very well end up being two of them.
That's good news for both the Grizzlies and Bulls, who will hope to build around their new rookies and return to relevance in the near future.
