Defensive end Maxx Crosby isn’t heading to the East Coast after all, having reportedly failed a requisite physical ahead of what was to be his official signing with the Baltimore Ravens later this week. The timing of this void is interesting as a report by ESPN states that Crosby’s physical was to be conducted once the new league year begins on Wednesday.
Yet ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared a report from the Las Vegas Raiders that stated “The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby. We will have no further comment at this time.”
The immediate further conversation centers around Crosby’s previous left meniscus injury, which he suffered late last season. Crosby had surgery to repair the meniscus back in January of 2026. However, it’s apparent that something isn’t quite right in the aftermath of the surgery — at least to the satisfaction of Baltimore’s front office, coaches, and medical team.
The Ravens and Raiders had originally agreed on a trade for Crosby that was to send Las Vegas a pair of first-round picks: one in 2026 and one in 2027. Additionally, Baltimore was to inherit the remainder of Crosby’s current three-year, $106.5 million contract extension. That deal, signed in 2025, has an average annual value of around $35.5 million.
Instead, Crosby reverts to the Raiders, and the Ravens may have now entered the ring in hopes of landing free-agent defensive end Trey Hendrickson. What does this mean for the Buffalo Bills? It’s unlikely to change anything for them, given the draft capital and Crosby’s current contract, and now the failed physical.
